Don’t Color Your Roots

Who are God’s offspring?

Paul tells us in the book of Romans it is not Abraham’s physical descendants that are God’s offspring, but his spiritual descendants are His offspring.  The descendants are not from his son Ishmael but his son Issac.  Not from his grandson Esau but from his grandson Jacob.  From the beginning, God has chosen his people.

This choice continues down to today.  He has chosen us, not because we are of a religion called “Christian” but because we are Abraham’s spiritual offspring.  Our roots are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Yeshua’s (Jesus) sacrifice on the cross 2000 years ago provided the way for us as Gentiles to be included in His family.  By our confession of trust, we are the “wild branches” Paul talks about that are being grafted into the Jewish tree.  Our roots began Jewish and stay Jewish. Our roots have not charged.  The scriptures are written to recount the history of His people.   It is our history.

Be proud of your roots.  Learn of your roots.   Embrace your roots.  Cherish your roots.  Celebrate your roots.
